Your baby’s first 1000 days are so important! In fact, 75% of your baby’s brain develops by his or her first birthday. First Start Partnerships for Children & Families offers two programs to help you understand what your baby needs from you, as your child’s first and forever teacher.

1. Early Head Start Home Visiting Program

We can visit your home weekly to give you information about your child’s growth and learning. You can also meet with other families twice a month, with activities for you and your child. Families qualify for this free program based on income and other factors.

2. Early Head Start Center Program

Children ages 12 to 36 months can attend a classroom designed for them. You will also have a Family Advocate to help you reach your goals for yourself, your child and your family. Families qualify for this free program based on income and other factors. Early Head Start Center Program is currently available in Waynesboro School District only.

The two years before kindergarten are an exciting time for a young child! Preschoolers are curious about everything and ask a lot of questions. They are also beginning to learn how to get along with others and how to manage their many emotions. First Start Partnerships for Children & Families offers two programs to help you and your child be ready for kindergarten.

1. Head Start Center Program

Your child can attend a classroom designed for three and four-year-old children. In addition, you will have a Family Advocate to help you reach your goals for yourself, your child and your family. Your Family Advocate will listen to your needs and help you connect with different community services such as:

  • Employment/Training
  • Financial Assistance
  • Housing
  • Health
  • Transportation
  • ESL

Families qualify for this free program based on income and other factors. Head Start Program is currently available in Chambersburg, Greencastle and Waynesboro school districts.

2. Pre-K Counts Center Program

Your child can attend a classroom designed for children who are three by September 1 until they enter Kindergarten. Families qualify for this free program based on income and other factors. Pre-K Counts is currently available in Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Greencastle, Fannett-Metal and Tuscarora school districts.
