President & CEO

First Start Partnerships for Children and Families (FSP) seeks a dynamic President & CEO of our growing early childhood education organization. We serve 712 children and their families by partnering with families, schools and communities to ensure that each child arrives ready for kindergarten.

 

General Position Description

The President & CEO is responsible for the overall management of the organization, including program development, resource allocation, and business operations. The President & CEO establishes clear goals and direction for the organization, inspires and leads a diverse team of professionals, advises and informs the board of directors, and champions the organization’s vision, goals, and values. The President and CEO oversees a staff of 120 dedicated early childhood professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic operation and administration of the organization. Oversee development, implementation, quality, measurement, and promotion of programs, campaigns and services.
  • Serve as spokesperson for the organization and promote its mission, programs, and values. Establish and build strong cooperative relationships with members, community groups, donors, volunteers, funders, government officials, and the press.
  • Lead and inspire staff to accomplish the goals of the organization and understand and fully embrace the mission and values. Ensure an engaging climate which attracts, motivates, and supports a talented, diverse staff to effectively execute programs.
  • Ensure adequate funds from diverse, ongoing revenue streams to sustain and further the organization’s mission and programs. Spearhead fundraising efforts, including motivating staff, board, and volunteers to embrace and support fundraising goals and efforts.
  • Build strong relationships with the Board of Directors and advise the board in governance best practices, responsibilities, board composition, risk management, finance, legal, and fundraising. Update the board on programs and funding and communicate any issues with potential to effect the organization and its mission.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and periodic assessment of a strategic plan including goals, objectives, and timelines.
  • Direct staff, finance committee, and board in budget preparation, effectively manage resources within budget guidelines.
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with relevant nonprofit regulations and is transparent and accurate in all its records and documents.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for planning, programs, fundraising, finance, risk management, and HR.
  • Stay current in developments and trends in the nonprofit sector and issues relevant to the mission and make recommendations as appropriate.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

  • Dedication and commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Five to ten years progressive experience in nonprofit management at a leadership level.
  • Working knowledge of the early childhood education field.
  • Broad experience in planning, budgeting, managing, and working with a board of directors.
  • Extensive experience in fundraising including planning, prospect development, donor stewardship, and grants.
  • Demonstrated ability to build donor and community relationships.
  • Leadership experience in strategic planning.
  • Solid knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Outstanding leadership, networking, and motivational skills.
  • Must be an innovative, strategic thinker with initiative and passion.

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s Degree Required (Doctorate preferred)

Early Head Start Home-Based Assistant

Provide support to the home based team in providing high quality education and comprehensive services to children and families enrolled in the program. This position will assist with documentation and monitoring of home-based data, support group socialization experiences, and be a contributing member of our home-based learning community. In absence of a Home Visitor, the Home-Based assistant partners with families to plan and implement learning experiences using the home environment to promote children’s social emotional, cognitive & physical development.

This is a part time (30 hours) non-exempt, full year position with competitive salary.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience related to care and development of children and families
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Creole preferred

Hiring Manager: Early Head Start Director

Home Visitor

The Home Visitor is responsible for working with individual families of children 0 to 3 years old  and pregnant mothers in their homes. The Home Visitor builds respectful, culturally responsive and trusting relationships with families; recognizing parents/guardians as a child’s first teacher The Home Visitor partners with families to plan and implement learning experiences to promote children’s social emotional, cognitive & physical development.

This is a full time non-exempt, full year position with competitive salary.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • High School Diploma/ GED and hold a Childhood Development Associate certification in Home Visiting or comparable credential OR equivalent coursework as part of an Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies or Social Work.
  • 1 + years of experience working with children and families

Compensation will be based on education and experience.

Hiring Manager: Early Head Start Director

 

Bilingual Family Advocate

Assist with Recruiting and Enrollment of children. Work with families through home visits to create family goals, provide support, and make referrals. Encourage and empower families to be involved in all aspects of Head Start programming and navigate community resources. Work cooperatively with the teachers as part of the classroom team. Promote school readiness. Attend trainings, meetings, and   community functions. Offer written and spoken translation in English and Spanish.

This is a full time non-exempt, part year position with competitive salary.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor degree in Human Development/ Family Studies or Social Work or related field.
  • Must be able to speak and write fluently Spanish and English language.
  • 2 years experience related to care and development of children and families

Hiring Manager: Family Services Director

Pre-K Counts Lead Teacher

We are looking for a Pre-K Counts Lead Teacher who has a passion for growing hearts and minds of children and families in Franklin County.

  • Implement a high quality early childhood curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child.

This is a full time exempt, 10 month position with competitive salary.

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • A Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field (ECE credits completed) and a current PA Teaching Certification in PK-4 or N-3
  • 1 year experience working with preschool age children.

Hiring Manager: Pre-K Counts Director

Assistant Teacher

This position works collaboratively with the classroom staff in an Early Childhood environment. Responsible for assisting the lead teacher with the classroom child interactions to implement a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional, and physical development of each child enrolled in the group in accordance with early childhood program standards.

This is a full time non-exempt, part year position with competitive salary.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • High School Diploma with a CDA(Childhood Development Associate certification); AA degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
